Parent Presentations

There is a Parent/Caregiver Presentation included in the Connect for Freedom program. It covers what their child will be learning in the Connect for Freedom lessons, as well as topics such as online safety, sextortion, and human trafficking so that parents are educated on these important issues as well.

We recommend each organization/club/after-school program schedules and coordinates a night to present this important material to parents/caregivers. The presentation may take up to an hour, so we recommend a night strictly focused on the presentation.

The presentation can be completed in person or remotely- we recommend whichever method ensures maximum parent attendance and participation.

We strongly encourage that organizations/clubs reach out to their local law enforcement agency or county prosecutor’s office to invite an officer to attend the parent presentation. Any questions parents may have on these topics are best answered by law enforcement officers. Parent/Caregiver Presentation

The Parent/Caregiver Presentation introduces the Connect for Freedom program and lessons to parents/caregivers and teaches them about the dangers of online enticement, sextortion and human trafficking. It covers important topics such as how to keep children safe online, the red flags of human trafficking, the various types of parental control options, and how to talk to children about these issues.

We recommend the Parent/Caregiver Presentation be presented to parents by the principal/school administrator and the school resource officer (SRO) or school security director. Local law enforcement should also be contacted by the point of contact person at the school to attend and answer questions.

Educational Videos

These educational videos are in the Connect for Freedom Parent Presentations. They cover topics such as online enticement, sextortion, sex trafficking and human trafficking. These videos were created by NCMEC, DHS, DayOneNY, Love146, WedgwoodCS and Auroris Media.

National Center for Missing & Exploited Children Parent/Guardian Presentation

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children offers a parent/guardian presentation designed to share important information regarding online safety. The goal is to help teach parents about the topics, how to discuss them with their children, and how to respond is something dangerous happens online.

iGuardian Parent Presentation

Project iGuardian offers a parent presentation designed to inform parents and caregivers on the threat of online child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA), how to implement preventive strategies and how to report suspected abuse to law enforcement. The presentation takes about an hour and fifteen minutes.

HSI special agents who investigate online child sexual exploitation and abuse and other subject matter experts offer this presentation to parents and schools to help protect children from online CSEA. To request a presentation, email the Project iGuardian team at iGuardian.hq@hsi.dhs.gov.

NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking Parent Webinar

The NJ Coalition Against Human Trafficking Parent Webinar discusses the importance of conversations with children and provides tips on how to keep children safer online. This webinar is around an hour and a half and is extremely informative for parents on the topics of online exploitation and human trafficking.
