ABOUT

Connect for Freedom is a non-profit that was founded in 2023. Its mission is to connect education stakeholders in K-12 schools to join the fight FOR FREEDOM from online exploitation and human trafficking in their schools and communities. United, we can END HUMAN TRAFFICKING. Connect for Freedom provides a wealth of resources, information and much needed guidance to education stakeholders on the unique role educators can play in combatting human trafficking. Educating students on online safety and human trafficking awareness is a main objective of Connect for Freedom (CFF) and keeps children safe from the dangers of human trafficking and online enticement. We also provide education stakeholders with an implementation guide with a coordinated and collaborated comprehensive response with law enforcement and health care providers.

The Connect for Freedom training resources are curated from The Federal Homeland Security’s Blue Campaign and the Blue Campaign’s partner affiliates. It is specifically designed for K-12 superintendents, principals, educators, students, mental health professionals, parents, service providers, and law enforcement officers. The K-12 toolkit includes teacher curriculum, awareness campaign materials,  interactive activities, games, presentation materials, videos, and survivor stories among other resources for teachers to use to educate their students.

Connect for Freedom also provides parent education materials and tips and tools for parents/guardians to better monitor and control their child’s online activity. It will guide parents on where to go for help.

All resources and materials including displays are free and downloadable. They are intended and encouraged as a guide for education stakeholders to create awareness while providing a multi-disciplinary response to sustaining safe schools and communities.

We believe that education stakeholders can play a significant role in combatting online enticement and human trafficking. Connect for Freedom is excited to share this guide with superintendents, principals, teachers, law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, health care professionals among others to help keep their communities safe. By harnessing these resources, education stakeholders can be the change agents needed to make a difference.

Connect for Freedom is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

HISTORY

Connect for Freedom started with humble beginnings. The idea of educating K-12 students on the dangers of human trafficking and online exploitation had its roots in a think tank at Montclair State University in 2018, whose mission as the time was to study the issue of human trafficking and provide innovative and novel solutions to prevent it. After much research and years of study, Montclair State opened the Global Center on Human Trafficking at Montclair State University, to formalize its commitment to study the issue. One of the core missions of the Center at the time was to provide global prevention education to children because children are especially vulnerable to being exploited and trafficked.

Connect for Freedom was an outgrowth of that lofty goal. Connect for Freedom is a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to support the goal of educating children thru an easy, downloadable resource center that could be accessed by superintendents, principals, and teachers for the purpose of educating students and their parents on how to stay safe.

The mission of Connect for Freedom is to inform, inspire, and motivate education stakeholders to CONNECT and join the fight FOR FREEDOM from human trafficking in their schools and in their local communities. United, we can END HUMAN TRAFFICKING.
