Parent Presentations

There are two parent presentations available through the Connect for Freedom program. The first is geared towards parents and caregivers called the Parent/Caregiver Presentation. It covers topics such as online safety, sextortion, and human trafficking so that parents are educated on these important issues. The second presentation is for both parents and students, and is the Parent/Student Workshop. It is a collaborative approach to help parents and students feel comfortable discussing these topics together as well as becoming informed.

We recommend the school schedules and coordinates a night to present the material to parents. The presentation may take up to an hour so we recommend a night strictly focused on the presentation. If time can be set aside during a PTA meeting or Back to School Night, then this would also be an acceptable approach.

Parent/Caregiver Presentation

The Parent/Caregiver Presentation introduces the dangers of online enticement, sextortion and human trafficking to parents. It discusses topics such as how to keep children safe online, the red flags of human trafficking, the various types of parental control options, and how to talk to children about these issues.
We recommend the Parent/Caregiver Presentation be presented to parents by the principal/school administrator and the school resource officer (SRO) or school security director. Local law enforcement should also be contacted by the point of contact person at the school to attend and answer questions regarding the materials being covered such as online enticement, sextortion, human trafficking, etc.

Parent/Student Workshop

The Parent/Student Workshop is centered around the premise of bringing parents and children together and having an open dialogue about online safety and human trafficking awareness. There is a direct link between online enticement, sextortion and human trafficking which is highlighted throughout this workshop. Parents and children will walk away feeling more knowledgeable about human trafficking and the dangers of social media as well as having an open conversation about technology usage and how to stay protected online.
We recommend the Parent/Student Workshop be presented to parents and students by the principal/school administrator, school resource officer (SRO) or school security director and co-hosted with a member of local law enforcement to answer questions.

Educational Videos

These educational videos are in the Connect for Freedom Parent Presentations. They cover topics such as online enticement, sextortion, sex trafficking and human trafficking. These videos were created by NCMEC, DHS, DayOneNY, Love146, WedgwoodCS and Auroris Media.
