Faculty Awareness Training

Recommended Training:

SOAR is an online training course provided by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The modules are funded by the Administration for Children and Families Office on Trafficking in Persons through the National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center.

There is a FREE course available we highly recommend for school faculty, which is SOAR 101 Foundational Human Trafficking Training for School-Based Professionals. This course will take an hour to complete and will educate faculty on the different types of trafficking, indicators of trafficking in school settings, the importance of utilizing a trauma informed approach, developing a trafficking response protocol for your school, and assessing the needs of individuals at risk of trafficking or who have experienced it.

DHS Human Trafficking Training

DHS Blue Campaign’s Youth Professional & Caretaker Human Trafficking Awareness Training is a FREE online training course for individuals working with youth to teach them about what human trafficking is, why youth are vulnerable, and the role they play in helping to prevent crime.



DHS Additional Training Materials

The DHS Blue Campaign has a vast amount of resources and materials that are available to the public and completely FREE. The materials for law enforcement include a victim identification pamphlet, a victim support pamphlet, and a first responder indicator card. Some of the below materials are available to be ordered through DHS by placing an order HERE. It takes 4-8 weeks to receive the materials.



Polaris Project Human Trafficking Training

Polaris Project is a nonprofit that works to combat and prevent sex and labor trafficking in North America. It has operated the U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline, connecting victims and survivors of human trafficking to support and services. They also work to ensure traffickers are held accountable. The work this organization does is invaluable to the fight against human trafficking.
Polaris Project has a FREE introductory course, Human Trafficking 101, that explains in depth what human trafficking is, how it happens, and how to be part of the solution. The training takes around an hour and a half to complete and a certificate is provided at the end. We highly recommend this training course.

NCMEC Connect

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children offers NCMEC Connect, a virtual platform with FREE training courses, materials, and resources to help missing and exploited children. Their self-paced modules range from eighteen minutes to two hours in length. These are a great option especially for teachers in K-5 schools who are implementing the NCMEC curriculum.



Office for Victims of Crime Human Trafficking Training

Office for Victims of Crime provides training and technical assistance to stakeholders so they have the knowledge and capacity to identify human trafficking victims and can provide victims with support services in response to human trafficking. The connection to services is imperative to help human trafficking victims heal and is the goal of the Office for Victims of Crime.
There is a five part online training module called Understanding Human Trafficking and offers foundational learning on trauma-informed and victim-centered approaches to human trafficking. This training is completely FREE as well.



The Exodus Road Human Trafficking Training

The Exodus Road is a nonprofit that strategically fights human trafficking. This organization partners with law enforcement to fight human trafficking crime, equips communities to protect the vulnerable, and empowers survivors. This organization has made a profound impact on the fight against human trafficking.
The Exodus Road has a program called TraffickWatch Academy, which offers a FREE course, Anti-Human Trafficking. This course teaches you facts and statistics, warning signs someone may be trafficked, and practical steps to combat human trafficking. The training is broken down into two 20 minute modules and a certificate is provided at the end.



Sanar Institute Training & Education

Sanar Institute is dedicated to healing the impact of trauma. Sanar’s training and education program uses a multi-faceted approach to cater to a spectrum of needs and goals. They will work with your organization to enhance your toolkit on building person-centered best practices and help your faculty become a trauma-informed work culture.
